Unveiling the Power of Bing Chat: A Comprehensive Guide and Key Distinctions from ChatGPT

Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI’s ChatGPT has led to the integration of generative AI into its search engine, Bing. Bing has now transformed into an AI-powered chatbot, offering users the ability to ask questions and even upload images for AI-generated responses. Known as “Bing Chat” or “the new Bing,” this feature sets Bing apart from its competitor, Google. In this article, we will explore how to use Bing Chat and the various ways to access it.

To begin using Bing Chat, you will need to use the Microsoft Edge web browser. Previously, a Microsoft account was required, but now you can have shorter conversations without logging in. Simply open Microsoft Edge and go to Bing.com. There are multiple options to access Bing Chat: you can click “Chat” at the top of the screen, the Bing logo on the sidebar, or the “Try it” or “Learn more” buttons below the search bar.

Bing Chat is always accessible from the Edge sidebar, regardless of the website you’re on. The Bing website will have a “Chat” option on the top left, and Edge has Bing built-in on the sidebar to the right. However, if you’re not logged into a Microsoft account, you will be limited to five responses per conversation. To have longer conversations with up to 30 answers, you’ll need to log into your Microsoft account. You can create a Microsoft account using any email address, including Gmail and Yahoo!

When performing a Bing search, you can switch to Chat by clicking on the option below the search bar. Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing Chat differs from ChatGPT in terms of answer format, conversational style, and interface. The bottom of the screen features a text area where you can enter prompts and questions for Bing Chat. Additionally, you can now upload images for Bing to process using AI. If you prefer using your device’s microphone, you can select the microphone icon in the text area to talk to the AI chatbot. Clicking on “New topic” allows you to start a new conversation.

Bing Chat functions as a conversational AI-powered search engine. Although it doesn’t provide answers in a list format like a traditional search engine, it gathers responses from the web. When you receive a reply, Bing also lists the sources and links below the message bubble. After receiving a response, Bing generates suggestions for follow-up questions. The top left of the screen allows you to toggle between traditional search results and the AI chatbot. Bing Chat offers three formats for responses: more creative, more balanced, and more precise. Each format provides different types of answers, ranging from original and imaginative to concise and straightforward.

Within a conversation, Bing displays a prompt counter to keep track of the number of responses. There is a limit of 30 replies per conversation. Users can provide feedback to Microsoft Bing using the Feedback button located on the bottom-right corner of the chat window. This allows users to share suggestions, likes, dislikes, and even include a screenshot.

Bing Chat, like ChatGPT, has the ability to generate text conversationally, compose essays, create letters, summarize content, write code, and answer complex questions. However, Bing Chat has the advantage of internet access, providing up-to-date responses on current events. On the other hand, the free version of ChatGPT is only trained on data up to the year 2021.

In conclusion, Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI’s ChatGPT has transformed Bing into an AI-powered chatbot called Bing Chat. Users can access Bing Chat through the Microsoft Edge web browser and ask questions, upload images, and receive AI-generated responses. Bing Chat offers different response formats and allows for conversational interactions. It also provides up-to-date information on current events. With the integration of generative AI, Bing has become a unique competitor to traditional search engines.
