Microsoft Unveils New AI Capabilities at Inspire 2023 Conference
Microsoft has announced three new AI capabilities at its Inspire 2023 conference. These capabilities aim to provide organizations with tools to customize their AI builds and meet their specific needs and budgets. John Montgomery, Microsoft corporate vice president of AI Platform, stated that the goal is to make AI innovation accessible to all organizations.
Azure AI Vector Search Preview
One of the new capabilities is Azure AI Vector Search, which allows for advanced search capabilities beyond traditional keyword search. This feature enables searches not only based on text but also on media types such as images, video, and audio. By creating numerical representations of data, vector search can provide a deeper level of context-based understanding and flexibility.
Azure AI Document Intelligence Preview
Another capability announced is Azure AI Document Intelligence, which combines generative AI chatbots with corporate data and documents. This collaboration between Azure AI Document Intelligence and Azure OpenAI Service allows for the processing of various document types, OCR with AI-driven error correction, and information extraction. The scalability of this solution makes it suitable for both small and large enterprises.
Whisper Model Preview
The third capability introduced is the Whisper Model, which focuses on audio transcription at an enterprise scale. Developed in collaboration with OpenAI, this model supports 57 languages and offers enhanced readability by understanding context and creating transcriptions with more colloquial wording. Whisper Model can scale to transcribe large volumes of documents, making it suitable for tasks such as customer service conversations.
Integration and Customization
Microsoft’s new AI capabilities integrate seamlessly with other Azure solutions, allowing users to build customized applications. While similar offerings exist from competitors like IBM, Google, and Amazon, the tight integration with Azure and the inclusion of Azure security capabilities set Microsoft’s offerings apart.
Overall, these new AI capabilities from Microsoft aim to empower organizations to leverage AI technologies and drive innovation in their respective industries.
