YouTube is taking steps to make its content more accessible to a global audience by introducing AI-powered dubbing for its videos. The company recently announced at VidCon that it will be using Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing service developed by Area 120, Google’s experimental products incubator. Aloud works by transcribing the video, allowing creators to review and edit the transcription, and then translating and dubbing the video for upload. The process is said to be quick, with transcriptions taking only a few minutes. Currently, Aloud supports Spanish and Portuguese, but Google plans to add more languages, including Hindi and Bahasa-Indonesia, in the near future. Although Aloud is not yet available to the public, interested users can join a waitlist for access. YouTube is currently testing the feature with hundreds of creators.
